Schema markup for a local business

Structured data states your facts in a form software can read without guessing. This is the single most useful thing on the checklist.

What it does

Your web page is written for people. Schema markup is the same facts written for machines: what kind of business you are, where, when you are open, and what things cost. Google, Bing and AI assistants all read it. It sits in a <script type="application/ld+json"> tag and customers never see it.

An example

{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "Dentist",
  "name": "Bloom Dental Studio",
  "telephone": "+91 98200 00000",
  "priceRange": "₹₹",
  "address": {
    "@type": "PostalAddress",
    "streetAddress": "Unit 3, Lotus Court, J.P. Road",
    "addressLocality": "Andheri West",
    "addressRegion": "Mumbai",
    "postalCode": "400058",
    "addressCountry": "IN"
  },
  "geo": { "@type": "GeoCoordinates", "latitude": 19.1197, "longitude": 72.8468 },
  "openingHoursSpecification": [
    { "@type": "OpeningHoursSpecification",
      "dayOfWeek": ["Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday"],
      "opens": "10:00", "closes": "20:00" }
  ],
  "sameAs": ["https://www.google.com/maps/…", "https://www.instagram.com/…"]
}

The parts that matter most

Two rules

Only mark up what is visibly on the page. And never add a rating or reviews you do not have: it breaks the platforms’ rules and can get the markup ignored.

Questions

Do I need a developer to add schema?

Usually a small edit to your site’s head section. Many website builders have a field for it. If yours does not, ask whoever maintains the site, or have us build you one that includes it.
