Near the station is the default
“near station” appeared for ten of the twelve suburbs we tried: Andheri, Bandra, Borivali, Dadar, Ghatkopar, Malad, Mulund, Chembur, Goregaon and Kandivali. Andheri also suggested “near metro station”. Write the station, the exit and the walk in one sentence, for example “two minutes from the east exit”, using whichever is true for you.
Landmarks are keywords
Bandra showed Carter Road, Hill Road and Linking Road, Dadar showed Shivaji Park, Parsi Colony and the Siddhivinayak temple, Colaba showed Causeway, Powai showed the lake and Hiranandani. Put the landmark you are nearest to in your address text, not only on the map.
Occasions and diet
“for couples”, “for birthday celebration”, “for breakfast”, “affordable” and “open now” showed up in several areas, and “pure veg” in Borivali and “veg” in Powai. Say what you really offer, mark veg and non-veg on your menu text, and keep opening and closing times right.
Menu and bill
Keep the menu as text on the page and upload a menu photo or PDF to Google too. Your FSSAI licence or registration number belongs on your bills under FSSAI’s 2021 order, and on the premises. We add it to the website footer if you send it.

Questions
How do I show I am near a station?
One sentence: the station, the exit and the walk. “near station” appeared in Google’s suggestions for ten of the twelve Mumbai suburbs we tried.
Should I put my menu on the website as text or as a photo?
Text, so Google and AI assistants can read items and prices. You can upload a menu photo or PDF to Google as well, as long as the full menu fits on one page in one photo.
What is the FSSAI rule for a café?
An FSSAI order of 8 June 2021 requires the 14-digit licence or registration number on bills and cash memos, and display rules cover the premises. We found no rule for websites, but we can add it to the footer.
